cinful51:How do you get rid of the old garden rose that the hybrid tea was grafted to when it starts growing on your supposed hybrid tea at the same time as your hybrid tea is blooming? I have two different colors and types of roses on one bush. The World Peace is at the top of the bush and it is a pink peace color hybrid tea and this year (plant is 4 years old) it got shoots coming out closer to the bottom of the cane and when they bloomed, they were a purple old garden rose. What am I missing or doing wrong here?
Thank You in advance for any help you may give with this issue.

Your roses's rootstock is starting to take over your Peace rose. Those canes growing from below the crown (where the graft is) MUST BE REMOVED at the source.
Those canes are from Dr. Huey which is the most common rootstock used today. Years ago many folks believed a rose should be planted with the crown above the soil line, however this will eventually encourage the very vigorous Dr. Huey to send out sucker growth that WILL overtake the grafted rose. Roses growing on their own roots, of course, don't have this problem.
Many rose experts now believe that when a rose is planted, the bud union should be 2-5 inches below the surface of the soil, and that will greatly reduce or eliminate the problem.
Here's a link for pic's of Dr. Huey:
