    getting rid of diseased roses

I have to get rid of a diseased rose and would like to know how to keep it from coming back after pulling out as many roots as I can. I'd like to replant in the same place but don't want to do something that would harm the new roses I want to plant in the same place. Thanks.

Re: getting rid of diseased roses

Once the bush is pulled out of the ground any fine roots left behind will not hurt the newly planted bush. But.. most rose diseases come from the soil around the bush such as rust, blackspot and mildew fungus. That is why moving the bush to another location in your garden can help your diseases bush. The soil you moved to is free of the disease causing fungus.
