    Blackspot

Blackspot has taken over my roses. We had a very wet summer so far and I have 2 plants with no leaves left. I keep spraying with a blackspot control, so my other roses don't get too bad. But what am I to do with these 2 plants? Are they beyond help? Should I dig them out?

You need to get rid of the infected leaves and canes. So, prune infected canes and discard. Be sure not to discard in your compost pile or near other roses. Rake all the leaves from around the bushs and discard also. It may be a good idea to put down fresh mulch.

    Re: Blackspot

I had a really bad year for black spot this summer. I had 7 new bushes last year with hardly any black spot, this year starting mid to late summer i had more black spot then i have ever seeen- totally defoliating one of my bushes.
I wonder if putting tree leaves over the bushes last winter to protect them might have encouraged the black spot spores or protected them as well???? Before i do that again i hope to hear some responses.
