    Bud browning

I planted a climbing rose last season and as the buds develop they become brown on the edges. The bud does bloom but they do not look healthy. It is doing the same this spring. Is this a disease or just a bad rose? I think it is a Viking Queen. Thank you.

    Hi Peggy,

It sounds like you may have some active Thrips there. Myself, I ignore them, being an organic gardener. But if you go to your local Home Depot, Lowes, Nursery, etc., they will have something for fighting thrips. You would need to spray it on the buds as they are forming, for that is when the Thrips start damaging the rose petals.
