    New Dawn

Hi I live in Cornwall Ontario zone 5. We are on the border of New York State. I am considering growing the climbing rose New Dawn. Has anyone in that area grown that rose. If so did it need any special winter protection or can it be treated like the explorer roses. Tahnks in advance for any help.

    Re: New Dawn

New Dawn will do beautifully for you. I've had this rose in 4 hours of sun, in zone 5, hard against a foundation, and it topped 8 feet. I've had it in full zone in zone 4, and it grew to six feet before dying back to the root after the extreme cold this winter. I hope you try this rose; it's very hardy, blooms virtually non-stop, and is my favourite climber.
