preparing for transplantation

I lived in Houston, Texas. THe temperature here is currently 65 at night an in the low 80's during the day. I want to transplant some native roses that are about 6 years old and move them closer to the house by about 3 foot. These roses bloom
year round here. Can you give me some advice about how to do this?

I would prune them a bit first, then transplant them making sure you disturb the roots as little possible. Then just keep them watered in their new location.
