    identify an old rose

I am a genealogist and I would love some help in identifying a rose that was mentioned fondly by a relative in her journal. All I know is that it smelled like apples and had a yellow flower. My ancestor enjoyed it in Sweden in the 1890's, but it was in her grandmother's garden so may have been older than that. It must have been a cross to combine yellow color with that scent. Does anyone have an idea? If I can find out what it is I would like to find a way to buy a plant for a relative in Sweden, so I would appreciate any suggestions on sources as well.
