Off and running for a new year

I have my rootstock soaking and am now providing for the beginning care for roses.  That is, I'm preparing my soil for planting.  In my opinion the care for roses begins with a good soil prep.  Being sure it drains properly and is revitalized with nutrients.

I love this time of year as I begin a new season of growth

The planters are ready.   I plant my roses in redwood planters that are 30"x30"x 30".  I made them myself and they have been serving me well.

I like using planters because it brings the bushes and soil up to height where they are easier to work on.  Crawling around on the ground just doesn't work for me anymore.  Working at a reasonable height makes the care for roses much easier.

The rootstock after soaking for a few days is showing signs of life.

    Looking forward to the planting.
