    manure fertilizers

    i have read that you should use steer manure with roses,but i was wondering if using horse manure(i have an abundance of the this) that has been breaking down for a few months can it be used in substitute to steer manure?...i have a young mini(kordana) that i am planting.

    Yes you can use horse manure, but you are going to get weeds. I used horse manure one year. Horses don't digest like cows. It is too strong to mix it in with the bush roots while planting. Put the manure on top of the ground area. Watering the bush will bring the nutrients down to the roots. If the manure is broken down then I suppose you can mix it into the soil during planting.

    i will try the on ground level spread like you suggested,cuz i don't really want to kill off my rose right away,by making soil too strong...thanx for reply
