Is morning sun lasting until about 1:00 P.M. enough sun for climbing rose bushes? And again afternoon sun that starts at about 4:00 P.M. enough for climbing rose bushes? I have planted two sets of  climbers  in these locations. The first location gets  full sun until 1:00 P.M. and the second location gets full sun from  4:00 P.M.  until dusk.

The morning sun is the better location. The morning dew will evaporate off the leaves quickly and prevent fungus growths. I've had rose bushes growing in a shady location that have had a fair number of booms. If the 1pm location is the only place to plant then give it a try. It would be interesting experiment to plant the same climber in both locations.

Your morning location certainly is the prime one.  However. a good general rule of thumb is that all roses require a minimum of six hours of sun.  Hope this helps.  Let us know how you go.

That's right!  Climbing roses may take several years to reach maturity.  This slow progress may frustrate you, especially if you’ve planned your garden with the climbing rose as the "centerpiece" or one of the key elements.

To begin, make sure that you're starting out with the best possible choice of rose.  You must give careful consideration to five factors:  size, shade tolerance, disease, resistance, rebloom, and basic aesthetics (such as color, fragrance, and any other personal preferences).
