    Problems

I have a David Austin rose that looks very diseased with black spot. The leaves are dying and the late flowers are not opening. It is now October and I am in zone 6, in Victoria, BC Canada. We do not usually get below freezing in our area. Can I prune back hard right now, or should I simply remove all of the leaves and wait until spring?
    Thanks

You can prune it now. This will keep the snow load in December from breaking the canes off. Rake up all leaves, don't compost but put the leaves in garbage puckup. It might be a little to early to hard prune to the ground, wait until Feb.
