    powdery mildew

A recent issue of Rose Magazine had a suggestion as to how to stop powdery mildew by using 3 TBSP baking soda, a dash of liquid dish detergent to one gallon of water. Can this same solution be used for black spots on the leaves? I have this problem every year with some years worse than others. I remove the bad leaves immediately, however, once it starts it is very difficult to get under control again.

I have tried this and it made no difference. It is a constant battle in Fl. due to the weather, but trying this recipe doesn't seem to do anything for this condition.

It is my understanding that this formula also has to have either horticulture oil or light veggie cooking oil added to make it stick on the plants. Also make sure to spray both tops and bottoms ove leaves, and shake often to keep the oil from separating. Repeat every 5-7 days as needed.

have you tried the following: remove the soil completely, and replace it with new soil.
