Can someone please explain putting a ripened black banana and laying it on the soil around the base of a rose bush. And do you cover the banana with soil?

Bananas peels give off high levels of potassium as they decompose in your soil and roses love it. You need the microbes in the soil to decompose, so cover the bananas with soil.
