    Pruning Tips?

I moved into this house last summer and the climbing roses were already in full bloom, they were beautiful..but very overpowering.. not looked after in years..........

I would like to prune them back some this spring..would you give some pointers on how to do this. How much to cut off etc.

Any info will be greatly apreciated....
    Thanks in advance.

climbing roses should not be pruned back very hard in general. If the rose is untidy and overgrown, one should cut out all old, woody and diseased canes. Then prune the remaining canes to the desired length and shape. This should all be done in the spring when you see the first buds breaking out of the main canes.

You don't prune climbing rose's until after they bloom. Then you prune out dead or branches that are grabbing you as you walk by.  Big Smile
