Hi.
I have a ten year old climbing rose that has grown very tall (close to fifteen feet. It used to flower a great deal throughout the entire plant. This year, however, it only flowered at the top and not as exuberantly as in the past. Now, in late summer, the plant appears to be very stressed. We had a late spring (I leave in southeastern Michigan). In addition, we have had a very cold and wet summer. Should I prune the plant heavily in early fall? Should I prune it heavily in the spring instead? How can I get the bush to recover and produce new canes?
Thank you for your advise.
