Combining climbers

I live in z 7b and have a 8x12x14' pergola and am going to plant Mme. Alfred Carriere. I need a companion climber to go with this rose but I need something that isn't overly thorny, as it will be at the entrance of my home. I am a newby, so I'll need something disease resistant. My tastes go toward the romanticas and the OGR's, but am open to suggestions on anything that is appropriate for my situation. I love blush shades of apricots and pinks. I sure would love to hear from anyone who has any ideas. Thanks alot!

Francoise Juranville would be lovely. I have it myself and it is a prolific bloomer in the early summer. Light pink fragrant blooms. The Alchymist would also be beautiful. Golden, yellow and peachy, medium, fragrant, blooms on a vigorous climber.
